£12000 raised so far!

As you are all no doubt aware, there have been a number of activities and events run at the club over the last year to raise funds to get our accessibility improved for wheelchair users, families with buggies or prams and less abled people to gain access to the first floor facilities.

Events included the Gin Festival, Peaky Blinders, the Santa Dash, Cake Sales, Book Sales, various competitions and quiz’s and have all been enthusiastically supported. I would like to thank everybody that has organised and supported these activities and in particular Sam Gates for his climbing challenge which raised £2800. The fund total at present stands at £12,000.

The overall project for improving access and opening up sports to disabled athletes will be delivered in phases. Phase 1 will be getting a lift installed and upstairs toilet facilities and is underway we have quotes for the work and are going through the final design stages for the lift. We are expecting the costs to be somewhere near £40,000. As soon as we have a committed installation time scale, we will communicate the news to all members.

Whilst phase 1 is in progress we will be planning the next phase and will be continuing to explore all funding opportunities. Please continue with fund raising activities they are fun and help the club in becoming a more inclusive organisation, our aim is to become the leading club in the area in disabled sports facilities.
