Harleston 1:0 Broxbourne

By Gemma Wilkinson

It was a long, depressing journey home for the Badgers after a frustrating afternoon away to Harlston, it was an extra long journey for certain players enduring Lisa Banana hands ‘granny’ style driving!
The day started off eventfully when goalie Freya Green adamant that she knew a short cut, in fact got her car lost resulting in half the team turning up late!
Good news for Alice Brown after previous concerns, she has upgraded her job, no longer content with licking stamps she is now a fully fledged air stewardess for we’ll know budget airline easy jet, her flight landed just in time for her to make it for push back.
An unusually nervy start for Broxbourne saw the visitors on the back foot, two theories for this, firstly the abysmal music choices from coach Matt McDonall had lowered the mood, the other more popular theory is concern for McDonall’s knee after a serious injury he incurred while competing in the recent Disco Dancing world champs.

The first half saw neither team managing to score, the Badgers had more possession in the opposition D but a frustrating series of decisions saw them unable to take the lead.

The second half was no better for Broxbourne, they never really stepped up to their usual high standards and it was this that led to Harlston sneaking a goal to break the deadlock. Broxbourne were the better side in the last 15minutes, inspiration came from defender Becky Watkins who threw an aerial that saw the team serge forward.

The dying seconds saw Badgers win two short corners, unfortunately it was not to be and the Badgers know they need to step up next week against St Albans if they are to maintain their position at the top end of the table.
This is going to take strength of character as oppose to commitment at training as half the team will still be travelling home from Harlston due to the 32mph speed cap Banana hands has insisted on following. When asked to show her driving licence to prove she could legally drive, her real age was discovered, all that should be said is claims that Wilkinson is the oldest member of the team are unfounded Granny Banana hands hits 40 next year.
Love you Badgers ??
