Ladies 3s battle the elements.

The Ladies 3s welcomed Luton this week for a rather wet and cold fixture.

Having lost the first meeting between the teams 7-1, the home team appeared to shock the opposition by not giving them the freedom to run and get into their flow, as they had done before.

The first half was a pretty narrow affair for both teams, with a lot of play down the middle this created issues for both teams, with the Brox and Luton defence working hard to keep the ball away from their goals. Despite this, the badgers took the opportunity to break and with some wonderful, slick passing to enter the attacking D and grab the first goal. This unnerved Luton and affected their play notably.

The second half saw a change in the approach for Broxbourne and they showed dominance at times with some lovely play ; they worked the ball out well from the back and used the wIngs to carry the ball into their attacking end. On the break, Broxbourne were strong and displayed lovely linked passing. Unfortunately for them the chances didn’t convert to a goal (some even missed by merely centimetres).

Luton also had a fair number of chances that didn’t find the goal, some due to being off target, but mostly because of the solid defence and great goalkeeping. Broxbourne, holding the lead for the majority of the match, unfortunately conceded an equaliser.

This did not deter Broxbourne in their bid to grab another goal and to continued to build again. Sadly for them, in the later stages of the match, a turned over ball in the mid and a overload from the Luton saw the ball cross the line for the Luton winner.

At the final whistle the final score was 2-1 to Luton.

Our player of the match this week is Kelly. Excellent runs and was really strong on the ball.

Our donkey of the match this week is Rose. It stated by her forgetting those very important shin pads. To then falling over multiple times on the pitch. Apart from that she had a really good game.

Next week, the team are away to Letchworth.
