L3s take 1 point from Letchworth game

The ladies 3s returned this week in usual form of donkey being named before the game! This week despite several attempts from Tara to take it, donkey belonged to Lauren who took, let’s say, the scenic route to the game!

We thought we had turned up to the wrong pitch initially, when the game started it felt much more like the six nations rather than hockey.

In usual fashion Broxbourne ladies 3xi came under some early pressure conceding a few short corners. A well struck direct shot gave the opposition the lead 1-0. We played our way into the game earning back short corners of our own. A well worked pass back to the slip gave Isobel the perfect chance to equalise, which she took 1-1.

We started the second half much more strongly, all the action was happening in the opposition half and if it wasn’t for the posts and a couple of brilliant saves from the keeper we could have run away with it. A chance was taken superbly by Charlotte which gave us the lead 2-1. Pushing for another left us short at the back when the ball broke nicely for Letchworth and they overloaded into the box and they scored. Given their celebrations you may have been fooled into thinking they had won the World Cup rather than equalised in a division 4 ladies hockey match.

Despite the continued heavy challenges and playing against 14 (11 players 2 umpires and a very vocal sideline supporter) we held on for our first draw of the season.
