After the huge success and international media storm of Episode 1: School Hockey (the podcast was downloaded greater than 100 times from at least 6 different countries!), The Grass Roots Hockey Podcast is back with its highly anticipated second episode.

Episode 2: Mini Hockey

He spent most of his playing career in the sin bin, so when Richard "Fresh" Wilkinson finally hung up his astros, it was a surprise to find him at the center of coaching the Baby Badgers on a Sunday morning (pre-COVID, sigh). Like so many other platers and parents in the grass roots community, Fresh said he doesn't see himself as a formal hockey coach and just "fell into" the role. And yet, the Baby Badgers section at Broxbourne has gone from strength to strength over recent years, and is continuing to grow its youngest member pool despite sitting in one of the most competitive geographic areas for junior in the country.

Tune in to our second episode of The Grass Roots Hockey Podcast where we ask Fresh what's the secret to running these sessions, what does he really think about those squad members who turn up to help but haven't got a clue, and how a small club balance growing members organically while also trying to reach national league.
