Broxbourne ladies 1's 2 vs Bromley and Beckenham 2's 2

It was a windy day at the Badgers den as league second place team Bromley and Beckenham turned up confident they could secure a victory over the Badgers. Unfortunately they were to leave frustrated by a feisty yet determined performance by Broxbourne. Bromley started off the brighter side, managing to overload the home side with a series of attacks down the right side of the pitch.

The Badgers defence stayed strong soaking up the pressure with a series of excellent tackles. Unfortunately Broxbourne were unable to maintain much possession whilst attacking and it was Bromley and Beckenham who broke the deadlock first with a goal just before half time.

The Broxbourne coach knew he needed to mix things up in the second half and made the bold decision to move Badgers star defender Gemma Wilkinson up front. It wasn't long before this decision paid off. An attack which started deep in the Broxbourne half with a superb tackle by Becci Pratt allowed her to put the ball through to Lucy Hayes. Hayes was able to put the ball through to Seasoned forward Miranda Hall who took on two Bromley defenders moving towards the goal.

In the meantime Wilkinson produced a superb run, out sprinting her defender to get into the D, Hall spotting this made a well timed pass into the Circle leaving Wilkinson to use her trademark reverse stick tomahawk shot into the back of the net. Bromley managed to nick a second goal against the run of play with a short corner strike, leaving the Badgers determined to get back on level terms. The chance arose only five minutes later when Wilkinson won her team another short corner which allowed Emily Wilkins to place a brilliant shot into the goal leaving the scores level.

Bromley gave the Badgers one more scare in the dying moments of the game but Pippa evans bravely put her body on the line making a series of fabulous saves to keep the scores level.
