Norwich dragons ladies 1's 4 vs Broxbourne ladies 1's 2
The Badgers had a long drive to Norwich for an important fixture at the Dragons den, unfortunately the Badgers were to come away frustrated once again.
Broxbourne have a notoriously poor record when playing Norwich and this game was to be no different, taking the dragons just 5 minutes to find the back of the net and take the lead. This deficit did spur the Badgers on and some great interplay between Gemma Wilkinson and Laura Wills saw Broxbourne maintaining possession for much of the remainder of the first half. It was unfortunately Norwich who scored again before half time, a rare attack saw them surprise Broxbourne a nick a goal to give them a 2-0 lead at half time.
The Badgers came out determined for the second half and Goalkeeper Kim Bames made a truly spectacular save, this seemed to spur on Lucy Hayes who beat two Norwich defenders before slipping the ball into the back of the net. Broxbourne midfielder Kay Finch unfortunately sustained an injury shortly after which seemed to unsettle the Badgers and no amount of spectacular tackles by Wilkinson could stop the Dragons from scoring two more goals in quick succession! It was the Broxbourne who finished strongly however with a truly inspirational run by defender Becki Pratt, Pratt usually only offers aerials in the way of attacking play, she managed to play the ball into a waiting Charlotte Skippy who tapped the ball into the net to finish the game 4-2. Broxbourne finished the game frustrated knowing that they should have won and the curse of the Dragons den had got them again.
