West Herts ladies 1's 4 vs Broxbourne Ladies 1's 2

Broxbourne Ladies 1’s faced heartbreak on Saturday as they officially became relegated after another frustrating game. The Badgers maintained 75% of possession throughout the game but once again struggled to find the back of the net resulting in another loss.
West Herts, who were crowned champions started strongly with a goal early on, this seemed to spur the visiting team on and Broxbourne had a spell of excellent possession driving deep into the oppositions circle. It was however a rare break from West Herts that saw the next goal, giving them a 2-0 lead. Some lovely play from Gemma Wilkinson and Charlotte skip in the Broxbourne forward line saw them awarded a penalty flick after a terrible foul right on the goal line. Despite Wilkinson being the official penalty flick taker for Broxbourne Kay Finch was able to get to the ball first, luckily she managed to convert the flick. This seemed to spur the Badgers on more and more attacks through Emily Wilkins saw Broxbourne coming close again. Two minutes before half time however the Badgers were left reeling after another counter attack saw West Herts extend their lead to 3-1.
The second half again saw Broxbourne with the majority of possession, midfielders Finch, Wilkins and Laura Wills were able to dominate and it was a solo Wilkins run and strike which brought the scores up to 3-2. Despite many more chances from Broxbourne, including truly inspired shot by Wilkinson that was saved by the fingertips of the West Herts goal keeper it was The home side that had the last word, their goal finishing the game at 4-2 and sealing Broxbourne fate of relegation.
