FELIXSTOWE 1 BROXBOURNE 2

Broxbourne recorded their first away win of the season beating Felixstowe 2-1 thus ending a two match losing streak and restoring some calm to a panicked Badgernation. In truth though against a side without a point the Badgers were still below their best and what should have been a routine win was anything but.

The build up to the game was dominated by the fall out from last week's defeat at home to Old Southenians. Veteran midfielder Alex Brown allegedly handed in a transfer request and several of the east league's top sides were ready to pounce for the coveted midfielder. Captain Charlie Frederick and CEO Adam Kitching met with the disgruntled veteran and managed to convince the thirteen year Badger stalwart to stay on to the end of the season on improved terms.

Travelling with a large squad of 15 the Badgers were full of running from the off with the revitalised Brown pulling the strings from midfield and took the lead in the 15th minute. Josh Chapman showed great composure at the back to pick out Henry House who then won a short corner. Top scorer Ben Scarrott duly dispatched his drag flick to make it 1-0.

The lead was soon doubled with Scarrott grabbing his second again from a corner. The visitors then began to get sloppy and the turnovers that have started to plague their game reared their ugly head again. Stan Mason had a nightmare five minutes where it seemed he had momentarily joined Felixstowe judging by the fact all his passes were going to men in white shirts. Playing against a side rooted to the foot of the table these kind of errors go unpunished but with league leaders East London coming into town next week Broxbourne will need to play with much more care and precision.

With a two goal lead Broxbourne missed several glorious chances in the second half to make the game safe. With seven minutes to go they were made to regret their profligacy when some sloppy play allowed the home side to pull a goal back and ensure a nervy last few minutes.

The Badgers held on and escaped with the all important three points knowing they will need to improve again next week if they hope to beat East London.
