Flying at the start

A must win game to both set the tone of the season and to settle the score from last season. Both teams started with the good intentions, but the pace and experience of the Broxbourne side suffocated the opposition. Early pressure was rewarded when Kris Prentice converted a short corner with a magic flick into the top left hand corner.

Within 20 minutes Broxbourne had extended that lead to 4-0. The next two were scored by Alex O'Sullivan from open play and then another from Kris Prentice again from a great build up down the left.

With moments to go in the first half Cheshunt got themselves a life line when the managed to get the ball over the line from a penalty corner. However, the half belonged to Broxbourne with every man better than their opposite number.

Predictably Broxbourne sat back a little in the second half which gave Cheshunt a lift. Scoring again midway through the second half, Cheshunt may have thought and upset was on the cards until Tom Castley picked up and scored from a poor clearance from Cheshunt in the circle to make it 5-2. Game over!

Next week it's Bishop Stortford, let's see if this side has the steel to deliver away from home too.
