Broxbourne 2's 9 - Rickmansworth 1

It was a cold day down at the badgerdome which made certain people late....... Scott Weedon who said his car had died. Someone else who nearly died was Dan Ball who walked straight in to the corner of the air conditioning unit outside the changing rooms and cut his head open.

The game started slowly for the badgers who were obviously used to the tropical weather from their training camps in South America. The badgers went 1-0 down when Rickmansworth had a straight strike at a short corner, they hit it straight down the middle and Dave Podmore seemed to dive over the ball and let it go in.

Then the turning point in the game when the usual Mr reliable Andrew Law faked a hamstring injury because he thought the game was lost, enter the younger version Josh Chapman. Brox had all the play after this as they knew that if Rickmansworth had any more shots they would probably score. The badgers won a short corner and when Adrian Crawly stopped for KP, who slipped left for Chapman. Everyone thought 1-1 straight away but Chapman played a pass off the post to Scott Weedon who was in space who slotted in an open goal to make it 1-1. The badgers continued to press the ball high and were rewarded just before half time when Charlie Frederick found himself in acres of space to flick the ball in to the bottom corner 2-1 at half time.

Broxbourne came out of half time like a rocket, in the space of 7 minutes and 12 seconds they had scored 3 goals. First KP slid the ball the Chapman who slapped it in to an open goal as we think the goalie was still at half time. Then a couple of short corners, firstly a mix up when Dan Ball wasnt listening to what he was meant to be doing so back to square one, a KP flick which went high and in the corner. A then KP slip right to AJ who drew the goalie before passing back to KP to push in a stranded goal, it was now 5-1 to the badgers and Rickmansworth were in all kinds of trouble.

Que the moment we had all been waiting for.......... After last weeks horror show in front of goal Stuart Kopsis seemed to have lost all his confidence. What he did next was inexcusable, Scott Weedon had a shot which was trickling over the line, Stu Kopsis ran like Usain Bolt, barged the defender out the was and slammed the ball home for 0.5cm stealing Weedons second goal (6-1).

The game was over now and some showboating from Dan Henry who drove round the back of the defense with the ball and from a tight angle mishit the ball in at the near post, he then proceeded to celebrate like a little child who had just got s new yo-yo for Christmas. Following the celebration Dan Henry the passed the ball across the goal to give KP the easiest of chances to slide the ball in for his hattrick and to make the score 8-1. Charlie Frederick completed the scoring with another low flick inside the D to make the final score 9-1 to Broxbourne.

A mouthwatering away trip to Luton next week for the table topping badgers.
