Lots of enthusiasm and short corners won was not enough to claim more than a draw against West Herts

Good Ed!

On Saturday the 17th of October the men’s 2s faced finally received their first home game of the season against West Herts, which rather conveniently lead to the return of AJ and Andy Law.

Motivated by what has been quite frankly an abhorrent start to our league campaign Broxbourne flew out of the gates consistently building pressure against their opposition and their suspiciously good goalkeeper.

The first half was anybody’s game with end to end hockey leading to good chances for both teams but both defences managed to keep the game level until young Reggie rounded the keeper and slotted home putting the home team ahead at half time.

When the umpires blew their whistles for the second half once again Broxbourne flew out of the blocks with continuous waves of attacks against the West Herts defence it looked to be our game for the taking with an honourable mention for Eddie House who was “good” and with “good” balls skills and some really “good” passing provided broxbourne with multiple chances including what seemed like thousands of short corners of which we converted zero.

And then completely against the run of play West Herts scored a short corner of their own and once again Broxbourne piled on the pressure but the countless short corners and millions of passes at the opposition goal lead to a depressing 1-1 draw and us recording our first point of the season, Yippee!!!

Next week the 2s face Saffron Walden away at 3:30 and hope to finally record a win.

Good Ed
