M2s draw 1-1 to WGC at the Badger field

On a fine day in Broxbourne the mighty 2s saw the return of their undefeated captain duo Joseph Wilkinson and Alexander Brown.

After a riveting team talk and a forgotten ball bag the 2s were motivated to give Welwyn the game of their lives in the iconic 4th vs stone last derby match!!!

The game began and it was a very back and forth affair with both sides creating chances until due to some sloppy marking and an overload Welwyn took the lead.

Broxbourne managed to move past the initial disappointment of the goal and continued to create more and more chances until a scramble in the D lead to the youngster Tom H finding himself with the ball at the end of his stick and he struck the ball into the backboard levelling the score.

When the half time whistle was blown the Broxbourne captains said the magic words and discussed the concept of 3 points and we burst out the gates creating chances and putting Welwyn under pressure.

Then the young marvellous captain/goalkeeper made a world class double save from a short corner keeping the score line at 1-1 unfortunately his partner and lover Browny changed his mind and decided that we didn’t want to win and as a ball from a nice Kitch run came through to himself on goal with only the keeper to beat he slipped it wide. Lots of action in the attacking D was unfortunately also not put away, ‘oh dear, Browny has missed another sitter’ was the sideline analysis from a supporting club secretary. A celebration of a goal that had not quite reached the goal line from Joe did not go unnoticed by his teammates. Welwyn and their striker Dave continued to apply pressure but with some tight Broxbourne defending we managed to see out our second draw of the season moving from bottom to second bottom we’re moving up in the world!!!!
