M2s win 3-1 against St Albans at home

Broxbourne M2s vs St Albans M3s

The second team returned to badger field buoyed by their recent run of form (two draws) that started when Joe Wilkinson started as captain. However the visit of the high flying tangerines was certainly a sterner test of his tactical nous.

Pre game he pulled a blinder bringing Louis back from a 6 month break while he appeared as the lead singer in a Queen tribute band. His pre match team talk seemed to consist mostly of force feeding a family sized can of red bull into Dan Henry was this some cunning plan or had Dan been partying late again????

The game started with St Albans dominating procession and playing their own brand of Tika taka hockey with Emlyn their midfield general directing play. The badgers weathered the storm with the makeshift defence of Alex Satnav Satwick and Veteran Trev holding firm. Like St Albans the boys in baby blue also have a folic-ally challenged midfield genius and the boy Brown started to pull strings (not just as Joes puppet master) bringing Baller and Hoppo into the game.

Broxbourne repeatedly flooded forward in bohemian fashion with Brown central to everything like he was conducting a rhapsody. You could say it was a Bohemian Rhapsody, and Louis was central to both goals the badgers scored in the period leading up to half time. An unstoppable drag flick from Baller nestled in the top of the net but better was to come. The blues moved the ball around the D so the St Albans keeper was thinking it was A kind of magic before Brown finished with a delicate flick into the side netting.

So with a half time lead to hold on to how would the 2s approach the second half, but it was clear Louie hadn’t had enough he was heard to say “don’t stop me now, I want it all”. So the 2s continued to attack with Kesh driving forward from full back while on the other flank Dan Henry seemed to have lost his wings and had a short lie down in front of the stand.

While Dan was having a short nap the show must go on and Broxbourne added a third goal. With the win looking almost certain it came down to Captain Joes person battle, he had said I want to break free from not having kept a clean sheet all season. He was under pressure Unfortunately the pressure got to him and he gifted a goal to visitors late in the second half.

With the 2s having earned their first win of the season they are looking forward to the next game and the continuing success of the Browny, Joe odd couple. In fact Joe was heard to tell him 'You’re my best friend after a few too many shandy’s which made a nice change from just crying'. Dan Henry after a recharging nap was back up to his tricks as a good old fashioned lover boy chasing a crazy little thing called love and fat bottomed girls through Hertford's nighttime establishments.

It might be too soon for the seconds to be singing we are the champions but the show must go on and they will continue their battle to avoid relegation next week. Much might depend on Louis availability so the team will await new on his auditions next week as the biker in YMCA and as a fireman in the latest Chippendales production.
