Letchworth 4s 1 Vs Broxbourne 4s 2

The 4th game of the season for Broxbourne’s 4th team was away to Letchworth’s 4th side who had started the season strongly. On the back of a loss last time out Broxbourne’s aim was to come away with a win in this game. The game started off slowly with no chances for either side really in the first 20 minutes. However approaching half time the ball was played into ‘Goal a game Arnie ‘ with his back to goal and several Letchworth defenders between him and the goal. A nice turn put him in front of goal and a nice finish to the goalies bottom right corner saw Broxbourne take a 1-0 lead. With half time approaching the Broxbourne defence of Rudd, Edwards and O’Sullivan held the Letchworth attack at bay up to the half time whistle.
The second half continued to be a close game with no side creating many clear chances until 10 minutes into the second half Letchworth equalised. From this point the game became very slow with Broxbourne controlling the game and Letchworth defending in numbers. The game needed something special form either team to win and with the midfield trio of House, Groves and Rowland pushing forward the ball found Vaughan on the top of the ‘D’ he shot, and no he did not score as the keeper saved and the ball found its way to Richards who couldn’t believe his luck. He slotted the ball home giving us a 2-1 lead. The last 5 minutes became a heated encounter but, Broxboune held out to take the 3 points.
This win takes the 4’s up to joint 2nd in 7SW. This week the 4’s are at home to Royston 2’s - 12 noon push back. A large crowd is expected so get to the ground early to secure your seat!
