Men's 4s Match Report - 19th Sept

Brox Mens 4s 7-0 Luton - 19/09/2020

The 4s started the hockey revival period in unusually high-scoring form with 4 goals from Bobby Dyer and one from each of Fresh, Max and veteran Jonny Briggs, in their pre-season friendly against Luton.

It took a little bit of time to get in to the game, but wasn't too long before the rust from the 6 month break was seemingly overcome. With Bobby and Fresh at the heart of things in the first half, the 4s were able to cruise comfortably into a 5-0 half time lead.

However, the lack of hockey action did indeed become apparent again when the tempo of the game and balance of play shifted dramatically in the second half. Old and tired legs created a very stretched game, with periods of sustained pressure having to be repelled (albeit with success). Thankfully there was enough stamina left in the team to create enough chances for two more goals to be scored.

A resoundingly successful display was made all the more impressive in light of the coveted (but all too infrequent) short-corner conversion and clean sheet to reflect the efforts at the back. Hopefully the winning result can be repeated when the sides face each other in the season proper.
