Complaining Opponents

The second game of the season for the ladies 3s brought about warmer weather and a morning home game against Shefford and Sandy’s 2s. Broxbourne were aware they were in for a tough fixture as this team had been relegated into the division this year, which was shown early on by S&S providing an aerial from the back that resulted in them taking an lead in the opening minutes, followed by another a few minutes later despite this being played off of one of their own feet in the D.
Despite S&S being in the lead, maintaining a lot of the possession and winning the majority of the 50/50 balls, they began to moan loudly about decisions not going in their favour and unfortunately got into Broxbourne’s heads. This resulted in another goal going in before half time, with no shot being able hit the backboard by Broxbourne despite a couple of good attempts.
A productive team talk discussing the need for width and strong, accurate passes lead to Broxbourne playing more like they had in the previous 8-0 win fixture. Eventually, a goal was scored by Broxbourne to reduce the deficit to 3-1. However, the continued moaning by S&S whenever anything didn’t go according to their plan continued to get in Broxbourne heads and lead to a further goal being conceded close to the whistle.
Lessons were learned from this and the ladies 3s look more positively on next week’s fixture.
