Maych Report:
Brox Ladies 3s vs St Albans 5s
Despite the opposition being top of the table, inflicting a heavy defeat on us the last time we played, and having a shot whizz past the post within the opening minutes, the game turned out to be one of our best.
St Albans had the lions share of the possession but all pressure was neutralised by a strong collaborative effort by the Broxbourne ladies.
Sadly they had one chance too many and St Albans converted a break and took the lead. This seemed to focus Brox, when a pass well worked from the back found Hannah who turned a pace made a spectacular run and then finished with a perfect pass into the D to Charlotte who hit first time a brilliant strike 1-1. Absolutely brilliant play completely stunned St Albans, and the rest of the half played out predominantly in the middle of the pitch.
The second half continued much how the first had finished, lots of play in the middle with no real clear cut chances either end. We believed at one point that we could take a draw from the team at the top.
St Albans never gave up and their persistence finally paid off when their dominance was rewarded with a goal 2-1.
Although it was a defeat we played some lovely hockey and improved tenfold on our last performance against them so lots of positives to take into the next game after next weeks slip date.
Regardless of several attempts for Tara to take donkey this week. I would like to give it to the opposition coach, who gave the umpire so much verbal she sent him off (quite rightly as no umpire deserves that) he then refused to go and when finally he knew he had to, sauntered across the middle of the pitch, very embarrassing behaviour.
