A bustling grand stand full of spectators turned out on a rather chilly Saturday in late December to watch the Broxbourne L5 host Luton Town L2s for their rearranged league game. A 10-strong Luton team were put under early pressure by an energetic Broxbourne team, however a number of opportunities and short corners were not quite converted. A quick break and touch on the back post put Luton 1-0 up at half time.
Quality street fuelled half time talk managed to motivate (well sugar hype) the Broxbourne team into a more fruitful second half.
An unfortunate Luton injury put them down to 9-players for a short period, which Broxbourne capitalised on by winning a run of short corners. A nice sweeping shot from the left slip by Lisa brought the game back to a level score.
Broxbourne continued with this momentum and put together some excellent attacking runs of play, which resulted in a nice goal from a run into the D by Roisin and cross to Daniela in front of the goal who found the backboard.
The game finished 2-1 in Broxbourne’s favour, and was celebrated with mince pies in the clubhouse.
